Ascension Orthopedics, Inc., the world leader in PyroCarbon orthopedic devices, announces another implantation of the TITAN™ Modular Total Shoulder. The surgery was performed by Matthew Ramsey, M.D. at Bucks County Specialty Hospital in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.
"The surgery went well today and postoperative x-rays showed a very anatomic replacement. The modularity of the TITAN Modular Total Shoulder allows the implant to closely match patient anatomy, which is our main goal in a shoulder replacement surgery," stated Dr. Ramsey. "The instrumentation is streamlined in comparison to other systems I have used, which really helps simplify the procedure."
The TITAN Modular Total Shoulder System offers a bone preserving option for patients needing total or hemi shoulder arthroplasty. The modularity of the system allows independent selection of distal stems and proximal bodies that best match patient anatomy and bone quality. The system is fully interchangeable allowing all primary and fracture bodies to be used with press-fit or cemented stems. There are 26 humeral head sizing options which are based on published anthropomorphic data of over 300 human humeri to provide an anatomic fit. The system also offers multiple glenoid options for patients needing total shoulder replacement.
"We are excited about the increased number of surgeons and facilities implanting the TITAN Modular Total Shoulder. Dr. Ramsey is an excellent surgeon, and we greatly appreciate his support by implanting our shoulder products," commented Guy Mayer, President and CEO of Ascension Orthopedics. "We are currently working on additional shoulder products that will increase the adaptability of the TITAN Modular Shoulder System. We look forward to the continuing success and growth of this new shoulder system."
