2009-2010 AAOMS Officers And Trustees Installed At 91st Annual Meeting In Toronto

The officers and trustees of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons' 2009-
2010 Board of Trustees were installed October 16, during the final session of the House of Delegates at the
Association's 91st Annual Meeting in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The officers and trustees of the incoming
AAOMS Board of Trustees are:


Ira D. Cheifetz, DMD, President. Dr. Cheifetz, Princeton Junction, NJ, is an AAOMS fellow and a diplomate of
the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Prior to assuming the presidency, Dr. Cheifetz served
one-year terms as President-Elect and Vice President of the AAOMS. In addition, he was elected to two terms as
the association's Treasurer. Dr. Cheifetz spent several years as a delegate in the AAOMS House of Delegates. He
is a past chair of the AAOMS Committee on Practice Management and Communication, and a former member of
the Committee on OMS Professional Allied Staff. Dr. Cheifetz earned his dental degree from Tufts University
School of Dental Medicine, Boston, Massachusetts, which in 2008, established a scholarship in his honor. He
completed a general practice residency in Flushing, New York, and his OMS residency at Hahnemann Medical
College and Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He and his partners Sean Bradley, DMD, and Jonathon
Sasportas, DMD, maintain a private practice with offices in Mercerville and Princeton Junction, NJ.


Larry J. Moore, DDS, MS, President-elect. Dr. Moore, Altadena, Calif, was voted President-elect. He comes to
this position following a one-year term as the association's Vice President. He previously served three years as the
District VI trustee on the Board of Trustees. Dr. Moore maintains a private practice with offices in Chino Hills,
Calif. He is also a lecturer in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program at King/Harbor-UCLA
Medical Center. He received his dental degree and a master's degree in oral biology at the UCLA School of
Dentistry, and completed his surgical residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Dr. Moore is a diplomate of the
American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a fellow of the AAOMS, the American College of
Dentists and the International College of Dentists.


Arthur C. Jee, DMD, Vice President. Dr. Jee, Laurel, Md, was elected vice president during the Association's
2009 Annual Meeting in Toronto. Prior to his election, Dr. Jee served four years on the AAOMS Board of
Trustees as the District II trustee. Dr. Jee is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
and an AAOMS fellow. A delegate to the AAOMS House of Delegates for nearly 10 years prior to his two terms
as Trustee, he was named 2004 Committee Person of the Year in recognition of his service on the AAOMS
Committee on Continuing Education and Professional Development, which plans and oversees implementation of
all association professional continuing education programs. He is a graduate of the University of Louisville
School of Medicine and Dentistry, and completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the Washington
Hospital Center, Washington, DC.















Edwin W. Slade, Jr, DMD, JD, Treasurer. Dr. Slade, Doylestown, Pa, was elected to a second, two-year term
as Treasurer of the AAOMS during the Association's Annual Meeting in Toronto. Dr. Slade, a diplomate of the
American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and an AAOMS fellow, is a graduate of the University of
Connecticut and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He has been in private OMS practice
for over 31 years and is a clinical associate professor of OMS at the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his
law degree from Temple University and subsequently became a fellow of the American College of Legal
Medicine.


R. Lynn White, DDS, Immediate Past President. Dr. White, Austin, Tex, assumes the position of Immediate
Past President following his successful year as AAOMS President, and previous terms as President-elect, Vice
President and four years as the District V trustee. Dr. White earned his dental degree from the University of Texas
Dental Branch in Houston, and completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Emory University
School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. A diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
and a fellow of AAOMS, Dr. White practices oral and maxillofacial surgery in Austin and San Marcos, TX.


AAOMS Trustees


Lawrence J. Busino, DDS, District I. Dr. Busino, Albany, NY, was elected to a two-year term as District I
trustee during the 2009 AAOMS Annual Meeting in Toronto. He represents the association's fellows and
members in the District I jurisdictions of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode
Island and Vermont. Dr. Busino is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and a
diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.


Louis K. Rafetto, DMD, PA, District II. Dr. Rafetto, Wilmington, Del, was elected to a two-year term as
District II Trustee on the AAOMS Board of Trustees. Dr. Rafetto represents the association's fellows and
members in the District II jurisdictions of Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey and
Pennsylvania, and the oral and maxillofacial surgeons serving in the US Armed Forces. He is a fellow of the
American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgery.


Eric T. Geist, DDS, District III. Dr. Geist, Monroe, La, is serving the second year of a two-year term on the
AAOMS Board of Trustees. Dr. Geist represents AAOMS fellows and members in the District III jurisdictions of
Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico and the US territories
of the Virgin Islands and Guam, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. He is a fellow of the
American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a past president of the ABOMS.


William J. Nelson, DDS, District IV. Dr. Nelson, Green Bay, Wis, is serving the second year of a two-year term
on the AAOMS Board of Trustees. He represents AAOMS fellows and members in the District IV jurisdictions of
Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin, as well as those oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the Veteran's
Administration and the US Public Health Service. Dr. Nelson is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgeons and a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is also a
past president of the ABOMS.


Miro A. Pavelka, DDS, MSD, District V. Dr. Pavelka, Dallas, Tex, is serving his second term as a trustee
representing the AAOMS fellows and members in the District V jurisdictions of Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa,
Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas
and Wyoming. He is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and a diplomate of
the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.


Henry C. Windell, DMD, District VI. Dr. Windell, Troutdale, Ore, is fulfilling the second of a two-year term as
the District VI trustee on the AAOMS Board of Trustees. Dr. Windell represents the fellows and members in the
District VI jurisdictions of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington
State. He is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and a diplomate of the
American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
The officers and members of the 2009-2010 AAOMS Board of Trustees will serve until the conclusion of the 92nd
AAOMS Annual Meeting, Scientific Sessions and Exhibition, September 27 - October 2, 2010, in Chicago, Ill.
